Golden Gate School of English Teacher's Contract of Employment


PARTIES
1 This contract is made between The Golden Gate English Language School (the 'Employer') whose registered office is: Piastowska 8, Tarnowskie Góry 42-600, POLAND and ................................................... (the 'Teacher').

PERIOD
2 The contract is for a period to run from .............. to ...............
JOB DESCRIPTION
3 The purpose of employment is as a teacher of English as a foreign language.

SALARY
4 Salary payments will be made in the country of employment in local currency. The teacher will receive a monthly salary as set out in the attached salary schedule (APPENDIX no 1. hereto) to be paid in equal monthly installments.

TAX/NATIONAL INSURANCE
5 The Employer will pay in the name of the Teacher appropriate tax and national insurance contributions according to the regulations of the Republic of Poland. Teachers are advised to obtain appropriate health insurance before arrival.

HOLIDAYS
6 In addition to local public holidays the Teacher is entitled to receive holidays:
Christmas break: 10 days
Easter break: 5 days
May day break: 4 days around 1st May
For the purposes of calculating salary in the event of termination of the contract before the end of its term, holiday (other than local public holiday) is unpaid and therefore nothing should be paid in respect of accrued holiday.
Additional holiday may only be taken in exceptional circumstances and must be previously agreed between the Employer and Teacher.

HOURS OF WORK
7 The teacher will be required to teach up to 30 forty-five minute hours including two 45-minute 'stand-by'consultation sessions per week. Any teaching hours over 30 hours per week are to be considered overtime and will be paid at an overtime rate of net pay plus 25%. Overtime will not exceed 20 hours in any one month.
In addition, under the supervision of the Director of Studies (DOS) or his representative, the Teacher is expected to do all preparation and marking necessary and, exceptional, the teacher may be called upon to substitute.
The teacher is also expected to attend regular staff meetings, as requested by the DOS or his representative.
The Teacher will be given a teaching timetable at the beginning of the contract, but this must be expected to vary somewhat according to clients' requirements. The normal working week is Monday to Friday but the teacher may be asked to work on Saturday mornings if required.

NOTICE AND TRIAL PERIODS
8 This contract is subject to a six week trial period during which time either party may terminate the contract at one week's notice.
Either party may terminate this contract at one month's written notice thereafter.

GOVERNING LAW
9 This contract shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Poland and the parties hereto submit to the jurisdiction of the Polish courts.
